Bay Roberts RCMP responds to single-vehicle crash in Clarke’s Beach, driver arrested for impaired operation

A 77-year-old man was arrested for impaired operation by Bay Roberts RCMP following a single-vehicle crash in Clarke's Beach that occurred on April 24, 2024.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the report of the crash. A van departed the road and crashed into a fence. The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested at the scene. At the detachment, he provided breath samples that were above the legal limit.

The man was released from custody and is set to appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired operation. His licence was suspended and the van was seized and impounded.

Impaired drivers place themselves and all others who share the roadway at increased levels of risk. If you suspect a driver is impaired, please call your local police or 911 immediately to make a report.
