RCMP seize 1500 marijuana plants, Acadieville, N.B.

2010/8/24

On August 23, 2010, District 5 Kent RCMP seized nearly 1500 marijuana plants from wooded areas near Acadieville and Bass River. This amount of marijuana could have potentially produced up to 750,000 joints.

On August 18, District 5 RCMP seized an additional 2100 plants from surrounding areas, bringing the total of plants seized in the Kent region to nearly 3600 in the past week.

"These seizures will contribute a great deal to reducing crime in the communities we serve," says Sgt. Jeff Johnson. "The marijuana seized represents up to 2 million joints that will no longer be circulating in our communities, that wont reach our young people, and that wont line the pockets of organized crime groups."

You can assist the RCMP in eradicating marijuana grow-operations by providing the police with information on these drug related activities. You can also report these crimes anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
