N.B. Crime Stoppers and Alcool NB Liquor are working together to raise awareness regarding the persistent problem of adults providing alcoholic beverages to people under 19 years of age.
Under the Liquor Control Act, it is a serious offence to provide alcoholic beverages to anyone under 19. The fine for a first offence is $292.50. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $5,120. While some adults may be persuaded to think they're doing a favour for a young person by buying them alcohol, it is illegal and can result in a substantial fine.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of individuals supplying alcohol to people under 19. You can share your information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
