With increased traffic on our roadways this weekend, the RCMP in New Brunswick are planning a number of checkstop operations at various locations throughout the province in an effort to reduce fatalities and injuries on our roadways.
"The Labour Day long weekend typically marks the end of summer and the return to school which usually means increased traffic," says District 5 Kent RCMP Sgt. Jeff Johnston. "The checkstops are being conducted as deterrents and reminders that people need to buckle up, not drive impaired and not drive aggressively."
People refusing to properly wear seatbelts, driving impaired and driving aggressively or speeding continue to be the main contributing factors in fatal and serious injury collisions in New Brunswick.
