Canada Road Safety Week starts on the Monday prior to the Victoria Day long weekend and ends on the following Monday. It is an enforcement-driven initiative designed to increase public compliance with and awareness of safe driving measures and, ultimately, to save lives. The enforcement part of the campaign targets impaired driving, lack of occupant restraint use, and unsafe intersection activity. The other part is an education campaign to address the importance of safe driver behavior. We also want to raise the public's awareness of Road Safety Vision 2010 - to make Canada 's roads the safest in the world.
