Workshop Content

The purpose of this workshop is to introduce Physical Security staff to policy requirements, lock identification, operating procedures, signs of tampering and common sources of lock out pertaining to the combination locks listed below.

This two-day workshop covers:

  • Selection of approved security containers in accordance with the Security Equipment Guide (SEG) G1-001
  • Security Triggers for combination change
  • Security policy and records management for combination locks
  • Combination settings selection and alternate combinations
  • Common lock parts
  • 6700 (non-approved) series - identification, opening and combination change procedures
  • 8400 (approved) series - identification, opening and combination change procedures
  • 8500 (approved) series - identification, opening and combination change procedures
  • 8077 (approved) series - identification, opening and combination change procedures
  • Tampering signs
  • Common sources of lock-outs

Participants

This basic level combination lock and combination padlock workshop is restricted to Security Officers or employees with security responsibilities mandated to control, maintain, and change settings on approved security containers. Workshops are limited to 15 candidates at a time.

Registration Fees

There are no registration costs for employees of partnering federal departments and agencies.

The per-candidate cost for non-partnering departments, agencies and other organizations is $300.
