Canadian Sunset Ceremonies
Join us for the RCMP's Canadian Sunset Ceremonies featuring the Musical Ride in the nation's capital, May 19, 20, 21 and 23, 2023!
This annual event, held to thank the community for their support, offers Canadians and visitors a chance to see the Musical Ride at its home in Ottawa.
The RCMP is marking 150 years of service to the public and security of our country on May 23. The Musical Ride tour, which begins with Canadian Sunset Ceremonies, is travelling across Canada to mark this major milestone.

We're pleased to offer 4 family-friendly performances, including one on the RCMP's 150th anniversary on May 23!

Arrive early to get a good spot and check out our RCMP and partner booths and food vendors.

What to expect
A troop of police officers and their horses delight audiences with a spectacular showcase of riding skills. Watch formations and historic cavalry drills all set to upbeat music.
The show ends with the not-to-be-missed world-famous "charge."

Giving back to the community
On Friday, May 19, cash donations will be collected for The Odawa Native Friendship Centre.
The Odawa Native Friendship Centre's been serving Ottawa's Indigenous Community for nearly 50 years. The centre positively affects the quality of life for the Indigenous Community. They strive to maintain a level of tradition and encourage self-help and development. They provide all individuals and families with a variety of programs and services to better their personal lives and spiritual wellness.
What to know before you go
- admission is free
- limited free parking available in a field beside the Sir George-Étienne-Cartier Parkway
- public transportation is encouraged
- dress for the weather - it's at the outdoor riding arena
- bring a blanket or lawn chair for comfort
- food vendors will be on site
- we don't allow pets on the grounds during events, please keep your furry friends at home
- service animals are permitted

Free parking in a field directly off the Sir George-Étienne-Cartier Parkway (formerly Rockcliffe Parkway).
Accessible parking is available on a first come, first serve basis, and is accessed through the South gate (Sandridge Rd and St. Laurent Boulevard)
Weather permitting if fields are in good condition. Please plan ahead.
