Like many people, we are approaching the end of 2020 with a sense of relief that this challenging year is finally at an end. This has been a year unlike any other, one that has been hard both personally and professionally for so many people, as we have navigated the many changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As I look back over the past year, what stands out to me is the way we all came together to support one another, the sacrifices and additional efforts we all made to ensure the health and safety of those around us. I take pride in the resiliency of the people we serve, their commitment, their adaptability and their selflessness in the face of such great challenges.
There is great promise in 2021, as we look to the next phase of recovery from the pandemic. To reach that end, we must continue to take seriously the measures aimed at containing the spread of this virus. As your provincial police, the New Brunswick RCMP is committed to working with our citizens.
This holiday season will be unlike those we are accustomed to, but we can still brighten this challenging year for ourselves and others. I encourage you all to find new ways to celebrate, to be generous and caring to those around you, and to connect with your loved ones while respecting the measures in place to keep everyone safe.
