Attempted Murder charges laid following disturbance

On June 28 just after 9 p.m., members of Annapolis District RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance at a camp ground on Highway 1 in Granville Ferry. Police learned that following a dispute, a man dragged a woman towards a river and assaulted her, while holding her head under water. A number of people intervened.

The victim was taken to hospital with what is believed to be moderate physical injuries. The accused was held in custody until a court appearance on June 29, where he was remanded.

Alexander Jacob O'Grady, 30, of Bedford, has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Choking or Strangling While Committing an Assault, Overcoming Resistance by Suffocating.

He is scheduled to return to court today.
