News release

A 45-year-old man of Burnt Islands was arrested by Bay St. George RCMP on December 14, 2020, following reports of a suspected impaired driver.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. police received the first report of a possible impaired driver on Harbour Drive in Stephenville. While officers were responding, a second report was received about the same vehicle that was now on Carolina Drive in Stephenville. Police located the described truck and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was suspected to be impaired by alcohol and failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were more than three times the legal limit. Police issued a driver's license suspension and the truck was seized and impounded. The driver was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving.
