Bay St. George RCMP arrests man for robbery at Needs; multiple charges laid

20-year-old Michael Morgan was taken into police custody by Bay St. George RCMP following a robbery at Needs Convenience on Carolina Avenue, last night.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., police received the report that a man, wearing a black hoodie and a face mask, entered the store holding a knife and demanded money. He departed the area on foot empty handed.

RCMP NL issued a social media post last night with surveillance images asking for the public's assistance in identifying the individual.

Less than an hour after the robbery, the suspect, Michael Morgan, was taken into custody, thanks to tips received from the public.

Morgan attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Robbery
  • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Breach of a probation order
