Bay St. George RCMP is cautioning motorists following three recent collisions involving wildlife on Route 460, White's Road.

The collisions happened between December 7 -14, 2020, and took place during the morning, afternoon and evening hours. One collision involved a moose and two involved caribou. The vehicles involved in each collision were damaged but none of the occupants were injured. In each incident, the animal ran off into the woods following the collision.

RCMP NL reminds motorists to exercise caution when driving on the highway, especially near wooded areas. Moose and caribou are more active at night and during the early morning hours when visibility is poor but may also present themselves during the middle of the day. Motorists should remain alert and travel at reduced speeds in areas known to be frequented by wildlife.
