Bay St. George RCMP continues the enforcement of impaired drivers with two more recent arrests between September 6-11, 2020.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on September 6, Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Lower Cove. A 45-year-old Corner Brook man fled the residence in a vehicle prior to police arrival but was located a short time later, driving the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the man, who was found to be impaired by alcohol, was arrested for assault and impaired driving. He was later released on conditions and is scheduled to attend court on September 21, 2020.
At approximately 3:10 p.m. on September 11, 2020, Bay St. George RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Queen Street in Stephenville. The driver, a 73-year-old Stephenville man, showed signs of alcohol impairment. He failed a roadside breath test, was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were more than the legal limit. Police seized and impounded the vehicle and issued a driver's licence suspension. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 16, 2020.
