Burin Peninsula RCMP arrests St. Lawrence man for trafficking methadone

Forty-one-year-old Cyrus Beck of St. Lawrence was arrested yesterday by Burin Peninsula RCMP for trafficking methadone.

In May of 2020, Burin Peninsula RCMP received a report of a man who was overdosing on methadone in St. Lawrence. The man was transported for urgent medical treatment and his condition was considered to be life-threatening. He was further transported via air ambulance to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's.

Burin Peninsula RCMP conducted a lengthy investigation that led to Beck's arrest yesterday morning. Beck is charged with trafficking methadone and criminal negligence causing bodily harm. He appeared in court yesterday afternoon and was released on a number of conditions. Beck's next scheduled court appearance is set for November 25, 2020.
