October 14, 2020
Prince County, Prince Edward Island

News release

Over the long Thanksgiving weekend, Prince District RCMP conducted several traffic initiatives in an effort to keep Islanders safe and raise awareness on the dangers of distracted driving, impaired driving and travelling at high rates of speed.

Over the course of the three-day weekend, Prince District RCMP conducted 12 checkpoints where 962 vehicles were checked, resulting in 10 summary offence tickets and several warnings were issued.

In addition to the summary offence tickets under the Highway Traffic Act, one driver was charged for impaired driving and another issued a 24-hour suspension after officers administered a roadside test as part of an impaired driving investigation.

Prince District would like to thank residents in the Prince District area for their cooperation and partnership in keeping our roads safe from dangerous drivers and hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend.
