Carmanville RCMP investigates fatal moose vehicle collision

Carmanville RCMP is investigating a moose vehicle collision that occurred on Route 330 north of Carmanville on Friday evening that claimed the life of a 17-year-old passenger.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the collision between a car, carrying two occupants, and a moose. Upon arrival, the passenger of the vehicle was found to be in critical condition. Police and paramedics performed CPR at the scene and the passenger was transported via ambulance to the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander. She later died in hospital.

The driver, who had non-life-threatening injuries, was also transported to the hospital.

An analyst with RCMP Traffic Services, along with firefighters from Musgrave Harbour and Carmanville, attended the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was engaged and the investigation is continuing.
