On Sept 21, 2020, an RCMP Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit officer with assistance from RCMP Air Services and RCMP Police Dog Services arrested two suspects in relation to a dangerous driving offence.
A 27-year-old male of Cold Lake, was remanded into custody and will speak to his matters in Cold Lake Provincial Court on Oct. 28, 2020. Cardinal was charged with 12 offences, some of which include the following:
- Flight from a peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Commit a common nuisance
- Possession of stolen property over $5000 x 2
- Possession of stolen property under $5000
- Possession of a controlled substance
A 19-year-old female of Cold Lake was remanded into custody and will speak to her matters in Cold Lake Provincial Court on Oct. 28, 2020. Marten was charged with eight offences, some of which include the following:
- Flight from a peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Commit a common nuisance
- Possession of stolen property over $5000 x 2
- Possession of stolen property under $5000
- Possession of a controlled substance
A third suspect, a 17-year-old youth from Cold Lake, whom cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is set to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on Oct. 14, 2020. The youth has been charged with 13 offences, some of which include the following:
- Flight from a peace officer
- Possession of stolen property over $5000 x 2
- Possession of stolen property under $5000
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Fail to comply with conditions x 4
- Possession of a controlled substance
