Driving without headlights on leads to serious offences

Halifax District RCMP charge youth for numerous offences after seen driving without headlights on.

On Monday, November 16 at approximately 9:15 p.m., police observed a vehicle on the Bisset Rd in Cole Harbour driving without its headlights on and continuing on the wrong side of the road. Police attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued weaving within both lanes until the intersection at Cow Bay Rd where it failed the turn and went into the ditch. The driver was uninjured and the passenger suffered minor injury.

The driver identified as a 17-year-old youth, was held in custody and scheduled to appear the following day in Halifax Youth Court facing charges including:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance
  • Operation of Conveyance Wile Over 80mg%
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Breach of Probation X 2
  • Breach Custody Order X 4

The incident is still under investigation
