Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP investigates robbery during private sale

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP is investigating a robbery that took place during a private sale on November 21, 2020, near Botwood.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m., the victim met up with a man near the hydro station, off of the Botwood Highway, for the purpose of a private sale of a cell phone. The sale was arranged following a conversation on Facebook Market Place. The victim was assaulted during the exchange and the suspect fled the area in a car without paying for the cell phone.

The suspect, who was driving a black Honda Civic, was last seen heading towards Botwood. He is described as being in his mid thirties, 250 pounds and approximately six-feet-tall. He was wearing glasses, a Montreal Canadians ball cap and a black jacket.
