Help is available to those who witnessed the traumatic fatal collision in Port au Port West

Following the tragic fatal motor vehicle collision in Port au Port West on August 29, 2020, Bay St. George RCMP connected with Western Health to discuss the needs of support for all who attended the scene or witnessed the collision.

It is very normal for people to require support when they have experienced a traumatic event and help is available.

The RCMP NL Health Services was engaged and offered support to the police officers who attended the collision.

If you have been affected by the collision in Port au Port West or any other traumatic event, Western Health's Bay St. George Trauma Team may be able to help by:

  • Providing information about grief and normal/predictable responses to trauma
  • Critical stress debriefing
  • Short Term Counselling
  • Referral to other resources /support services
