Socially distanced volunteers wrap presents

Northwest Territories RCMP employees were all smiles as they socially distanced their volunteer activities in support of the Toys for the North campaign.

Toys for the North is celebrating its 10th year anniversary, and this year, sending toys north to even more communities, including three (3) in the Northwest Territories.

Cst Jeffrey Gallant, Ulukahtok RCMP Detachment Commander, took the reins for NT RCMP for the three communities and led the team in organizing.

Nunavut RCMP Air Services delivered the toys to Yellowknife. NT RCMP assisted by receiving and wrapping the toys destined for Uluhaktok, Paulatuk and Sachs Harbour. They coordinated the transportation with Joint Task Force North 440 Air Squadron to the communities. The toys will then be distributed to the children in each community.

"This is such a huge event, and we are so proud to be part of it" states Inspector Dave Casey, Officer in Charge North District NT RCMP and Charitable Campaigns Coordinator. "We are only one cog in the wheel, but to bring smiles and delight to children's faces is so very special."

The RCMP is only one element of this great charitable event which includes community members, volunteers and charitable organizations with the focus of making a difference for our youth.

NT RCMP thanks Nunavut RCMP Air Services and JTFN 440 Air Squadron for their assistance.
