Police investigate stabbing

Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred on December 26 in Western Shore.

On December 26 at 9:46 a.m., Lunenburg District RCMP received a report of a stabbing that occurred earlier that morning at a residence on Station Rd. A preliminary investigation, which included a search of the property, determined that an altercation took place inside the residence between two men who are known to each other.

The accused, Kareem Taki-Aldeen, a 23-year-old from Halifax, stabbed a 21-year-old man before fleeing the residence. The victim was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Taki-Aldeen sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries after fleeing the residence and was also transported to hospital.

Taki-Aldeen was later arrested without incident and has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Uttering Threats and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order. He was released by the court on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on February 10, 2021.

The investigation is currently ongoing by the RCMP Lunenburg County General Investigation Section.
