Port Saunders RCMP arrests man for drug-impaired driving

A 31-year-old Eddies Cove West man was arrested by Port Saunders RCMP on July 3, 2020, following a traffic stop in Hawkes Bay.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Friday evening, Port Saunders RCMP stopped a vehicle on Route 430 in the community of Hawkes Bay.

Police suspected the driver was impaired by a drug. The man failed roadside sobriety testing and was arrested for drug impaired driving. He was transported to the detachment and completed a Drug Influence Evaluation. Officers obtained a blood sample from the driver at the local hospital, which will be sent for analysis to determine if charges of drug impaired driving are appropriate.

The investigation is continuing.
