RCMP charge woman for failing to self-isolate upon arrival to P.E.I.

December 9, 2020
Kings County, Prince Edward Island

News release

Kings District Members have charged a 21 year-old female for failing to self-isolate after arriving on Prince Edward Island by plane late last night, Tuesday, December 8th.

The woman failed to abide by orders made by the Chief Provincial Health Officer (CPHO) and, as a result, was charged under section 39(8) of the Public Health Act.

RCMP would like to remind the public that the orders provided by the CPHO are required to be followed for the safety of all Islanders. While this past week has shown how responsible the majority of Islanders are, the actions of a few that are not can have dire consequences. It is imperative that EVERYONE follow the orders to flatten this most recent curve. While the RCMP would prefer not to charge individuals with non-compliance, you can be assured that we will continue do so for the protection of everyone. Let's stay focused on being diligent and following the orders so that we can return to normal sooner.

If you are aware of anyone who is not following the orders of self-isolation or curtailed activities as noted by the CPHO, please call your local police agency to follow up.
