RCMP fine driver for excessive speed in Stratford

On Monday, September 21st, 2020, a Stratford RCMP officer was on patrol conducting traffic enforcement on the Trans Canada Highway within the town limits when they noted a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle registered on the police officer's radar a speed of 154 km/hour in an 80 km/hour speed zone. The driver, a 44 year-old male from Kings County, was subsequently issued a summary offence ticket in the amount of $840 and the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours.

Police want to remind motorist that excessive speeding will not be tolerated on Island roads and that anyone travelling at these rates of speed will be fined and their vehicles impounded accordingly.
