RCMP Traffic Services West seized a Chevrolet Impala in Corner Brook following a traffic stop conducted on September 24, 2020.

RCMP Traffic Services West conducted two traffic stops in the City of Corner Brook on September 24, 2020, seized both vehicles and ticketed the drivers.

At approximately 1030 a.m., an RCMP officer, who was traveling through the City on Mount Bernard Avenue, observed a Dodge Ram truck without a rear bumper or an attached licence plate. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 51-year-old Corner Brook man, was operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's licence and without proper registration or insurance. The truck was deemed as unfit for safe operation on the road and was seized and impounded. The driver was ticketed for a number of offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Just before 5:00 p.m. that same day, the same traffic officer was on patrol on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) near Watson Pond and observed a grey Chevrolet Impala that was anonymously reported earlier that day to Corner Brook RCMP for driving around Corner Brook with no insurance. The car exited the TCH and continued towards the City. The officer conducted a traffic stop near the new hospital site on Lewin Parkway in Corner Brook and confirmed that the vehicle did not have insurance. The driver, a 34-year-old Massey Drive man, was ticketed under the HTA for having no insurance and the car was seized and impounded.

Although the City of Corner Brook is primarily policed by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, RCMP NL is authorized to ticket drivers who are found in violation of the Highway Traffic Act and or other Provincial and Criminal legislation.

RCMP NL is committed to improving public safety on the roadways throughout the province and continues to enforce the legislation of the Highway Traffic Act in Newfoundland and Labrador.
