Recent traffic stops by Bay St. George RCMP results in tickets, licence suspensions and vehicle seizures

Following a number of recent traffic stops conducted by Bay St. George RCMP, a number of drivers were ticketed, received driver's licence suspensions and or are without a vehicle after it was seized by police.

On November 20, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Route 480 near Peter Strides. The driver, a 39-year-old Springdale man, was suspected to be impaired by alcohol. He provided a roadside breath test with a result that was above provincial legislation. The man was issued a driver's license suspension and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

On November 24, 2020, at approximately 12:15 a.m., police were on patrol on Massachusetts Drive in Stephenville and observed a vehicle parked behind a business after hours. A traffic stop was conducted and three 18-year-old men, who were believed to have been consuming cannabis inside the vehicle, were found in possession of unsealed/open cannabis. Police seized the drugs and ticketed the three occupants for violating the Cannabis Control Act. Officers provided the men with a ride home to ensure neither drove while under the influence.

On November 25, 2020, at approximately 10:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Maryland Drive in Stephenville. The driver, a 45-year-old Stephenville man, was found to be driving without registration or insurance. He was ticketed and his vehicle was seized and impounded.

On November 26, 2020, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Carolina Avenue in Stephenville. The driver, a 60-year-old Red Brook man, was suspected to be impaired by alcohol. He provided a roadside breath test with a result that was above provincial legislation. He was issued a driver's license suspension and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

On November 28, 2020, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Stephenville. The driver, a 26-year-old Stephenville man, was found to be driving with a suspended driver's licence. He was issued a ticket for driving while disqualified and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Carolina Avenue in Stephenville. The driver, a 27-year-old Shallop Cove woman, was suspected to be impaired. She provided a roadside breath test with a result that was above provincial legislation. The woman was issued a driver's license suspension and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
