Slave Lake RCMP investigate an attempted theft

On Oct. 6, 2020 at approximately 11:55 a.m., while on her lunch break, a female youth was approached by an adult male as she walked between the Canadian Tire and Sobey's grocery store at the Cornerstone Plaza in Slave Lake. The male asked the youth her name, where she lived and if she had any money. When the youth refused to answer, the male attempted to retrieve money from her person. The interaction was brief, and the female ran to a nearby school where police where called.

The suspect male was last seen running in the parking lot of the Sobey's grocery store.

The suspect is described as follows:

  • Caucasian
  • Approximately 40-years-old
  • Short blonde and grey hair
  • Grey stubble
  • Between 5'11" and 6'2" tall
  • Skinny build
  • Wearing a black hooded zip-up sweater and blue faded jeans

The youth was not injured in this occurrence.

Attached is a composite sketch of the suspect male. Police are seeking assistance from anyone who may recognize the pictured individual or who may have witnessed this incident.
