Summerside man receives 62 months in custody for trafficking

Thomas Dale Matthew of Summerside was sentenced to five (5) years and two (2) months in custody in Summerside Provincial Court on December 16th, 2020. Mr. Matthew was convicted of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

These charges stemmed from an investigation the Prince District JFO Drug Unit conducted in June of 2020. Police arrested Mr. Matthew and searched his residence in June and seized over six (6) ounces of crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, a conductive energy weapon (taser), brass knuckles, oxycodone, morphine, hydromorphone, and other items. Mr. Matthew was on parole at the time of his arrest and the search warrant for a previous of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and production of methamphetamine.
