Taxi driver charged following over $20,000 theft from client

East Hants RCMP has charged a taxi driver from Lower Sackville with Theft over $5,000.

On November 23 police received a report that the accused had been driving a taxi in the East Hants area stole the client's bank card and gained access to the client's PIN #. He used that information to steal more than $20,000 from the victim over a period of time.

On December 2, police charged Rodney Bryan McCarthy, 57, with Theft over $5,000, and Uttering Threats related to the victim of the theft. McCarthy was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on January 18, 2021.
