Three people injured in Lunenburg County collision

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating a single-vehicle collision that resulted in three people being sent to hospital with serious injuries. The collision occurred at 5:40 p.m. on July 29. The vehicle was travelling on Hwy. 12, left the road, overturned, and struck a tree head-on. No other vehicles were involved.

Three of the four passengers sustained serious injuries. New Ross Volunteer Fire Department, EHS and RCMP all responded and found that two of the vehicle's occupants had been ejected from the vehicle. There were other vehicles in the area at the time and several motorists stopped to provide assistance. Among them was an off-duty nurse and an off-duty RCMP officer. The three injured people were taken to hospital by ambulance. The fourth occupant of the vehicle was checked by EHS and cleared.

Highway 12 was closed for while police and other first responders were on scene and it re-opened at 7:15 p.m. Lunenburg District RCMP is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
