Traffic stops by Bay St. George RCMP result in multiple vehicle seizures

Three drivers are without their vehicles following traffic stops by Bay St. George RCMP.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 24, 2020, Bay St. George RCMP police officers conducted a traffic stop while on patrol on the Hansen Highway in Stephenville. The driver, a 48-year-old female resident of Stephenville, was found to be showing signs of gross impairment. The driver was arrested and transported back to the detachment where she failed breath tests, showing alcohol content at more than twice the legal limit. She was issued a driving suspension, the vehicle was impounded and she was released to appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on October 28, 2020, a Bay St. George RCMP police officer observed a known prohibited driver driving on Main Street in Stephenville Crossing. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the 38-year-old male driver, a resident of St. George's, was arrested for driving while prohibited and the vehicle was impounded. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on October 28, 2020, Bay St. George RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Route 490 in Stephenville. The 28-year-old male driver, a resident of St. George's, was arrested for driving while prohibited and without insurance. The vehicle was impounded and he was released to appear in court at a later date.
