Update: Woman and dog die after dog attack

June 24, 2020
Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia

News release

On June 9, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a possible deceased woman off the Wittenburg Rd. in Middle Musquodoboit and a dog was near the woman.

Based on evidence on the scene, witness statements and past known history of violence for the involved dog, police determined that the 38-year-old woman who lived in Middle Musquodoboit, was walking her dog when it attacked her. A report of the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office, which was received on June 24, has confirmed that the woman died as a result of injuries caused by her dog.

There was no criminal intent associated with the death of the dog. The investigation has now concluded.

The RCMP would like to remind the public that making threats to people in person or online is an offence, police will investigate and lay charges if warranted.

Our thoughts continue to be with the victim's family during this difficult time.
