Whitbourne RCMP responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver last night and arrested a 37-year-old woman.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., police received the report of a car that was traveling all over the road. The caller followed behind the vehicle, which pulled off at a business along the Trans-Canada Highway in Whitbourne, until police arrival. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be impaired. She was arrested and transported to the detachment where she provided breath samples that were nearly three times the legal limit.

The woman was later released from police custody and was issued driver's licence suspension. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 3, 2021, to face charges of impaired driving. The car was seized and impounded.

Whitbourne RCMP thanks the public for continuing to report suspected impaired drivers and continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
