Whitehorse RCMP charge two Yukon men in downtown traffic stop

During a traffic stop on 2nd Avenue on September 23, 2020 in downtown Whitehorse, police observed what was believed to be crack cocaine inside the vehicle. With the assistance of Yukon RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit, officers searched the vehicle and located:

  • An amount of suspected fentanyl;
  • An amount of suspected crack cocaine;
  • Various unknown pills;
  • Drug paraphernalia;
  • Cash.

Two Yukon residents were arrested and charged as a result of this traffic stop. Wayne Jackson, 54, has been charged with the following under the Criminal Code (CC):

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime;
  • Two counts of Fail to comply with a probation order.

Michael Bland, 40, has been charged with the following under the CC:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

Both Mr. Jackson and Mr. Bland appeared in court on September 24, 2020. They were remanded into custody. Wayne Jackson will next appear in court on September, 29, 2020. Michael Bland appeared again on September 25, 2020, was released on conditions and will next appear on October 2, 2020.
