Truth and Reconciliation event in Lennox Island First-Nation

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity for us to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and find ways to provide hope for generations of children to come. We are encouraged to listen with open minds and open hearts to the stories of Residential School and Indian Day School survivors and their families, and to remember those who never returned to their families.

On September 27, 2021, members of the PEI RCMP attended a Truth and Reconciliation event in Lennox Island First-Nation. The event was held to honor residential school survivors and to remember those who never returned home to their families.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the community of Lennox Island First-Nation for so graciously including us and sharing this moment with us.

I encourage all Islanders to take National Truth and Reconciliation Day as an opportunity for quiet reflection, and to participate in a local event to support and learn more about our Indigenous communities.

C/Supt. Jennifer Ebert
