This ATV was seized by Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP on February 17, 2021.

A 32-year-old man from Grand Falls-Windsor was arrested for flight from police on February 17, 2021, after he took off from police on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

On Wednesday afternoon, Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP observed an ATV operating in the parking lot of a local business on Duggan Street in Grand Falls-Windsor. A traffic stop was attempted and the operator fled from police on the ATV. He was located a short time later and was arrested for flight from police. He was released from custody with a court date set for April 14, 2021, where he will answer to a charge of flight from police. The man was also ticketed for operating a vehicle without insurance and the ATV was seized and impounded.

RCMP NL promotes the safe and legal operation of ATVs and continues to enforce actions that are neither safe nor legal. In 2020, 17 people operating recreational vehicles died, 14 of them on an ATV. RCMP reminds the public that it is a criminal offence to flee from police, regardless of the type of vehicle.
