Bay Roberts RCMP responds to single-vehicle crash in Tilton; impaired driving being investigated

This car crashed on Route 70 in Tilton on March 1, 2021. Bay Roberts RCMP is continuing an impaired driving investigation.

Bay Roberts RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 70 in Tilton on Monday, March 1, 2021.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., police received the report of the crash. Officers attended the scene and observed the driver, the lone occupant, trapped inside the vehicle. The roads were impassable during the investigation of the scene. The driver was removed from the car and was transported to Carbonear General Hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Police found evidence that pointed towards impaired driving and accompanied the driver to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing. Officers are currently working at obtaining a warrant for the driver's blood to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate.
