On December 16, 2021, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit officers arrested a male in relation to this investigation. The victim can now be identified as Arley Cook of Black Lake First Nation.

His death is considered a homicide and Jerrick Stalthanee of Black Lake First Nation has been charged with one count, second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.

His next court date is via video on January 17, 2022 in La Ronge Provincial Court.

Black Lake RCMP: suspicious sudden death investigation

2021-12-15

On December 14, 2021 at approximately 9:10 a.m., Black Lake RCMP received a report of a suspicious death on Black Lake First Nation.

Officers located a deceased 27-year-old male at a residence.

Saskatchewan RCMP's Major Crimes Unit is now investigating the circumstances of the male's death with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. An autopsy has been scheduled. No further details can be provided at this time.
