A Doyles man was arrested for drug impaired driving following a traffic stop conducted by Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP on July 22, 2021.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., officers were on patrol on the Trans-Canada Highway and conducted a traffic stop near Doyles. The driver showed signs of impairment consistent with cannabis use and was arrested for impaired driving after he tested positive for cannabis on roadside drug screening equipment.
The car was impounded and the driver was issued a seven-day driver's licence suspension. He was transported to the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, where further testing was conducted. Officers await the results of the testing to determine if charges of drug impaired driving are appropriate.
