Update: Collision claims life of 80-year-old Dieppe woman

Update: The 81-year-old woman from Dieppe, who was in the car succumbed to her injuries on February 14, 2021. The investigation is ongoing.

An 80-year-old woman from Dieppe has died following a two-vehicle collision in Havelock, N.B.

On February 11, 2021, at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of the Caledonia Region RCMP, Petitcodiac Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision between a tractor-trailer and a car on the Trans-Canada Highway, near kilometre marker 396.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the tractor-trailer travelling eastbound collided with a car attempting to change lanes. An 80-year-old woman who was the driver of the car died at the scene as a result of her injuries. An 81-year-old woman from Dieppe, who was a passenger in the car, was transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries. A 63-year-old man from Shediac Bridge, who was the sole occupant of the tractor-trailer, suffered what are believed to be minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the woman's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
