Update: RCMP positively identify body discovered near Mayfield

Update: November 24, 2021. The New Brunswick RCMP has positively identified the human remains discovered near Route 735 near Mayfield, N.B. on October 23. The remains have been positively identified as the missing 39-year-old man from Mayfield, who was reported missing on September 7. At this time, police do not have any reason to believe that criminality was involved.

The New Brunswick RCMP is continuing to work to positively identify human remains discovered near Route 735 near Mayfield, N.B. on October 23, 2021.

The remains were discovered in an area of interest in the search for a 39-year-old missing man of Mayfield. He was last seen walking northbound on Route 735 near Barter Settlement Road on September 4 and was reported missing to police on September 7. Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the body.

At this time, police do not have any reason to believe that criminality was involved.

The investigation is continuing to identify the man and to determine his cause of death.
