News release

The Codiac Regional RCMP has arrested two women and two men in Moncton, N.B., following a string of thefts across the Atlantic Provinces.

Between December 1 and December 3, 2021, police responded to a number of reports of thefts from businesses in the Moncton region. Through a subsequent investigation, police identified a vehicle that was believed to be connected to the incidents.

On December 3, 2021, police located the vehicle at a hotel on Kennedy Street in Dieppe. Two 22-year-old women, a 22-year-old man, and a 20-year-old man, were arrested at the scene.

The same day, a search warrant was executed where the individuals were staying. During the search, police recovered more than 200 stolen items.

On December 3, the four individuals appeared in Moncton Provincial Court. Sara Constantin, 22, Denisa Preda, 22, Luigi Jurnea, 22, and Fior-Founut Baboc, 20, were each charged with two counts of theft. They were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on December 8 at 2 p.m. for a bail hearing.

"These individuals targeted specific businesses and stole thousands of dollars' worth of high-end cosmetic products. To make these arrests and recover stolen property highlights excellent police work by the New Brunswick RCMP," said S/Sgt. Dave MacDonnell with the Codiac Regional RCMP. "We are aware that these individuals have been active in other provinces, and are working with police in Nova Scotia and PEI to determine other victims."

The investigation is ongoing.
