This ATV crashed after striking a curb on Harvey Street in Harbour Grace on May 1, 2021.

A 43-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving following an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash on Harvey Street in Harbour Grace on May 1, 2021.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Harbour Grace RCMP received the report of the ATV crash. Police attended the scene and determined that the ATV struck a curb and flipped over. The driver of the ATV showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested for impaired driving, transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were more than the legal limit.

A female passenger of the ATV was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. Both occupants were wearing helmets during the crash, which undoubtedly reduced the injuries sustained.

The driver was released from police custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving. His licence was suspended and the ATV was seized and impounded.

The investigation is continuing.
