Iqaluit Hit and Run Causing Injuries Involving Pedestrian

Iqaluit, NU – December 8, 2021

On December 7, 2021 at 5:35 pm Iqaluit RCMP responded to 159 Nipisa Road by the Quickstop for a report of a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle. The female that was hit by the vehicle was taken by ambulance to Qikiqtani General Hospital and is currently in stable condition with significant injuries.

With the assistance of the public's information, the RCMP located the male suspect at his residence where he was arrested and is now facing charges of Impaired Operation (by alcohol) of a Motor Vehicle, Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs. of Alcohol, Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm, Failure to Stop/Remain after Accident Causing Bodily Harm; and Drive While Prohibited.

The driver is currently being held for a bail hearing.
