Police charge Middle Sackville man following robbery and dangerous driving incidents

February 22, 2021, Fall River, Nova Scotia…RCMP in Colchester, East Hants and Halifax District are investigating after three incidents involving the same suspect over the weekend.

On February 21 at 5:49 a.m., Colchester County District RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision and Break and Enter at a gas station in Stewiacke. The investigation determined that at 1:49 a.m. a small black car rammed the front doors of the business. An unidentified man entered the business, removed the cash register and fled the scene with the cash register.

At 2:24 a.m., East Hants RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision at a business on Hwy. 214 in Elmsdale. A small black car had rammed the front of the business, causing significant damage, then fled the scene. As police were investigating, another call came in.


At 2:43 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a robbery at a gas station on Hwy. 2 in Fall River. A male suspect walked into the business after pumping gas and told the employee that no one will get hurt. The suspect then walked behind the counter and grabbed the cash register before leaving the store. The suspect fled the area in a small black car.

A short time later, police located the suspect vehicle driving along the 700 block of Waverley Rd. and stopped the vehicle. The driver was arrested without incident.

The driver, Chad David Sparkes, 44, from Middle Sackville, has been remanded into custody.

Sparkes is facing the following charges:

Robbery

Break and Enter

Theft under $5000

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Three counts of Mischief over $5,000

Sparkes is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.

The investigations are ongoing and led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
