RCMP in Burgeo conduct traffic stop and arrest man for drug-impaired driving

A 68-year-old man was arrested for drug-impaired driving by RCMP in Burgeo following a traffic stop in the community on December 17, 2021.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Main Road in Burgeo and suspected the driver was impaired by cannabis. The man tested positive for cannabis on roadside drug screening equipment and was arrested for drug-impaired driving. He was transported to Calder Health Centre in Burgeo and provided a blood sample.

The investigation is continuing. Officers await the results of the blood sample to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate. The man's licence was suspended.
