RCMP charge man with weapons offences

Annapolis District RCMP has charged a man with weapons offences after executing a search warrant at a home in West Paradise.

In October 2021, police began investigating an assault that occurred in Carleton Corner. As part of the investigation, on November 25, police executed a search warrant at a home in West Paradise. During the search police seized a firearm, ammunition, a cross bow and a number of other weapons. No one was present in the home at the time of the search.

Yesterday, police were contacted by the subject of the investigation and were advised of his location. Police met with the man and arrested him without incident.

Matthew Benjamin Brooks, 34, of West Paradise, is charged with Assault, Forcible Entry, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Mischief and Failure to Comply with Conditions (9 counts).

Brooks has ben remanded into custody and will appear in Digby Provincial Court today for a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing.
