News release

Halifax District RCMP has charged a man for dangerous operation of a conveyance following a dispute on the water in Little Harbour.

On May 16, police were notified of a dispute in Little Harbour around 5 a.m. that morning. Investigation determined that the incident had occurred on the water between two vessels. A man on the first vessel had been yelling at a person on the second vessel. The first vessel proceeded to follow the second vessel, and was sailing erratically, almost causing a collision. A line from the first vessel got caught in the propeller of the second vessel, which cause the second vessel to lose power and drift towards a rock ledge. Eventually, the jam was cleared and the second vessel was able to sail to safety.

On May 19, Colin Scott Mckay was arrested and released on condition to appear in court at a later date.

On May 25, police were notified that Mckay had breached his conditions by having contact with the man from the second vessel.

Colin Scott Mckay is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Breach of Undertaking. He is schedule to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 30.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information about these incidents, please contact the Musquodoboit Detachment RCMP at 902-899-3133.
