RCMP investigates fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision

Kings District RCMP is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred on December 19 in East Kingston.

Just before 9 p.m., police were called to a vehicle –pedestrian hit and run on Hwy. 1. Preliminary indicates a 44-year-old man was on the roadway when he was struck by a passing car. The car did not stop and left the area. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A short time later, the driver called police to advise that he was involved in a collision. Police attended his location and towed the car for examination. The driver was not injured.

A collision re-constructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing. The highway was closed for several hours and has since reopened.

Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this difficult time.
